Fear of AI in professions varies by country
A study in the American Psychologist shows that people’s fear of AI varies by profession and country.

The details
- More than 10,000 people in more than 20 countries participated in the study.
- The study has examined the professions of doctor, judge, manager, careworker, religious, and journalist. Participants were asked how concerned they were that AI could take over this profession.
- The people in India, Saudi Arabia, and the USA had the highest average levels of fear. That mainly affects the professions of judges and doctors.

Our thoughts
The researchers believe the differences are due to historical experiences with technology, media portrayals, and AI policy. It’s interesting to see that people in the USA and India are more afraid than those in China and Japan, for example.
We believe that AI will optimize our work processes and save us from tedious tasks. In addition, we all need to learn how to work with AI to succeed in our jobs. However, important decisions should still be made by people, especially in professions like those of doctors and judges.
