📚 AI in new school guidelines (Japan)
The education ministry in Japan has published new guidelines. It emphasizes that students understand Artificial Intelligence. The ministry sets out how generative AI can be integrated into schools. The guidelines also include rules to manage the risks associated with AI.
Students should become familiar with the characteristics of artificial intelligence, including its advantages and disadvantages. It is explicitly stated that sharing reports, essays or other work created by AI as one’s work is inappropriate. In addition, the guidelines promote the use of AI in the English classroom. Let’s see how it develops in other countries.

🌳 AI tackles climate change
AI and accelerated computing will help climate scientists achieve breakthroughs in climate research, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said on Monday at the Berlin Summit of the Earth Virtualization Engines initiative. In his talk, Huang outlined three miracles that need to happen for climate scientists to achieve their goals.
He also explained NVIDIA’s efforts to work with climate scientists and policymakers. The first miracle required will be to simulate the climate fast enough and at a high enough resolution. The second miracle we need is to mimic the physics of the climate system using AI. Generative AI makes it possible to predict the Earth’s climate at the km level. The third point is the ability to visualize all this data interactively. This step is essential for political decisions.

🤖 What happens when AI learns from AI?
Many people use tools like ChatGPT to create content on the internet. In the future, we can assume that a significant amount of web content will be generated by AI. That could be a problem for Large Language Models (LLMs). Researchers from Cambridge and Oxford Universities, the University of Toronto, and Imperial College in London published a research paper on this topic.
The problem has been observed with large language models, variational autoencoders and Gaussian mixture models. The models begin to “forget the true underlying data distribution” over time. That leads to an inaccurate representation of reality. The data on which they have been trained is so dirty that it loses all semblance of real data.
