Top AI news of the week

📱 AI could transform all Apple products

Apple has recently announced substantial advancements in artificial intelligence research, as demonstrated by two new papers that introduce novel techniques for 3D avatars and efficient language model inference.

These developments have the potential to facilitate more immersive visual experiences and enable the operation of complex AI systems on consumer devices, such as the iPhone and iPad.

The first paper concentrates on the efficient generation of animated 3D avatars from iPhone videos, exhibiting significant enhancements in photorealism and speed compared to existing techniques.

The second paper elaborates on the process of streamlining large language models through flash storage optimization. This approach allows for the execution of intricate applications, such as chatbots, on mobile devices.

Our thoughts

It looks like Apple is really putting a lot of effort into creating cutting-edge AI solutions. They’ve got big plans for the healthcare sector and want to incorporate AI into the Apple Watch. Plus, they’re planning to use AI in the Apple Vision Pro.

All these advancements will make Apple products better, as Apple is great at integrating AI into their existing products. In our opinion, Apple is a seriously underrated AI player.

🎵 Microsoft integrates Music Creation into Copilot

Microsoft has partnered with Suno, an AI-based music creation company, to integrate Suno’s capabilities into Microsoft Copilot. This collaboration will allow users to create personalized songs from a simple prompt, regardless of their musical background.

Suno’s technology can generate complete songs, including lyrics, instrumentals, and vocals, from a single sentence. Users don’t need to know how to sing or play an instrument as Microsoft Copilot and Suno will do all the hard work.

Our thoughts

Music creation tools are getting better and better. We need to make sure that human musicians are properly protected as creators. This will also be a big topic in 2024.

🎧 Spotify testing AI playlists feature

Spotify is testing a new AI-driven feature that lets users create playlists through prompts. The feature, accessed from the app’s “Your Library” tab, allows users to type their ideas into an AI chatbot or choose from suggested prompts.

The AI then generates a playlist based on the selected prompt, which users can further refine. Spotify has been investing heavily in AI, but it hasn’t confirmed when or if this feature will be launched publicly.

Our thoughts

We think this feature could be extremely useful. It can enable users to generate entirely new music playlists, a task that was previously not as straightforward.
