💬 Google DeepMind unveiled Gemini

Google DeepMind introduced Gemini, a highly capable and versatile AI model. Gemini is designed to understand and integrate various types of information, including text, code, audio, image, and video, making it a powerful tool for developers and enterprise customers. The model comes in three optimized versions:

  • Gemini Ultra for highly complex tasks
  • Gemini Pro for scaling across a wide range of tasks
  • Gemini Nano for efficient on-device tasks

Gemini Ultra surpasses current state-of-the-art models in 30 of 32 benchmarks utilized in LLM research and development. Achieving a score of 90%, Gemini Ultra is the first AI model to exceed human expert performance on the MMLU benchmark. Gemini Ultra will roll out in early next year. Gemini Pro will be integrated into Google products via Bard, starting now. Additionally, Gemini will be available directly on-device in the Pixel 8, utilizing Gemini Nano.

Our thoughts

Google is back in the AI race! Google’s “ChatGPT killer” is finally here - with 3 unique models for more flexibility. It seems that Google has developed the most powerful LLM on the market with Gemini Ultra. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to try it out until next year.

😎 xAI’s Chatbot Grok is starting to roll out for X Premium+ subscribers

Elon Musk just announced that xAI’s amazing ChatGPT competitor, Grok, is officially rolling out to X Premium+ subscribers! Unfortunately only in the USA for now. Grok answers questions conversationally using a knowledge base similar to ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. It uses real-time data from X posts in its responses, a potential advantage over other chatbots.

Musk has suggested Grok has wit and a rebellious streak, responding uniquely even to spicy or vulgar prompts. However, Grok has limits, refusing certain queries and currently being text-only with plans to handle video, audio, and other modalities in the future. The rollout news comes after a report from the SEC that xAI wants to raise up to 1 billion US dollars in investment.

Our thoughts

The real-time information access to X sets Grok massively apart from the alternatives. But, it’s still unclear how xAI will remove false information from the platform. Maybe X Community Notes can help. In our opinion, Grok could become a big competitor to ChatGPT and Bard. One thing is certain, a bit of humor is coming to the chatbot world.

🤖 OpenBB’s Investment Bot is now open-source

OpenBB announced that the OpenBB Bot is now open-source. OpenBB developed the bot because many users of the OpenBB Terminal wanted a chat feature. Finally, OpenBB decided to build the bot for Discord, similar to Midjourney, but for investments.

Since OpenBB has not been able to monetize the bot, the team has decided to open-source the architecture behind the OpenBB bot. The bot uses data from the OpenBB platform, with version 4 released recently. With the OpenBB platform, you have access to high-quality financial data from different data providers, for free.

Our thoughts

It makes sense to make the bot available as open-source. This makes it possible to build your own investment chatbots based on the OpenBB ecosystem. OpenBB says the bot has never been down since it started and has handled over 2.75 million Discord requests. That means that the bot has a stable architecture!

Magic AI tool of the week

Today, we are looking at the Speech Synthesis function of ElevenLabs*. You can choose from a variety of premade voices or generate your own voice. Let’s generate our own voice together! There are different options to create your own voice.

  • Option 1: Design a new voice by adjusting different voice parameters
  • Option 2: Clone a voice from a clean sample recording.
  • Option 3: Choose a voice from the community library.

In this tutorial, we create a voice with the voice design option. You have the following setting options.

Generate voice

  • Choose the voice’s gender (male or female).
  • Select the voice’s approximate age (Young, Middle Aged, Old).
  • Pick the accent (American, British, African, Australian, Indian).
  • Determine the strength of the accent.
  • Provide a sample text for the AI voice to articulate as an audio sample.

Then, click on Generate. The tool generates a voice based on your settings.

Next, you can produce an audio track in any language using your generated human-like voice from a given text. Let’s explore this further.

Speech Synthesis

  • Task: Choose the option Text to Speech.
  • Settings: Select the generated voice.
  • Settings: Adjust Voice Settings for stability and clarity. Experiment with the settings for optimal results.
  • Settings: Select the AI model (e.g., The model Eleven Multilingual v2 supports 29 languages.)
  • Text: Enter a text in any language and click Generate.

The model generates an audio file with the selected voice. Then, you can download the audio file. If you produce videos and don’t want to speak the audio track yourself, you can use ElevenLabs.

👉🏽 With ElevenLabs, you’re ready to break down language barriers like never before!*
