🤖 Meta AI releases Llama 2
Llama 2 is Open Source and free of charge. You can use it for research and commercial use. Llama 2 was trained on 40 % more data than Llama 1 and has a double context length. The Llama 2 suite contains three different versions: 7B, 13B and 70B parameters.
The release includes the model weights. In addition, Meta AI provides starting code for pre-trained and fine-tuned Llama Language models. Start-ups and companies can use Llama 2 to develop customized software. Llama 2 is a big step for Open Source LLMs. Open Source LLMs have the potential to enable small businesses.

📱 Apple GPT
Apple has announced that the autocorrect function will be based on an LLM in the upcoming iOS 17. The LLM should improve the performance of the autocorrect function. In addition, the LLM is only available locally on the respective iPhone.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is working internally on further LLMs. Apple is also developing its own chatbot called Apple GPT, a ChatGPT competitor. However, it isn’t clear whether the experiments will result in a product.

🌍 AI threat to global peace
The UN Security Council held a historic session on the risks of Artificial Intelligence for global peace and security. AI has the potential to eradicate poverty, fight hunger, cure cancer and advance climate change mitigation.
But AI can also be used for other purposes. AI applications for the military could have serious consequences for global peace and security. UN Secretary-General António Guterres announced the establishment of an advisory board to develop proposals for global AI regulation by the end of the year.

Magic AI tool of the week
The AI tool Fireflies was developed for business meetings. The tool automatically records and transcribes meetings. Fireflies records video + audio and creates transcripts in minutes. Manual transcripts and notes during a session are no longer necessary. The tool is designed to increase productivity in business meetings. You can integrate it into applications like Zoom, Teams and others.
