🎇 OpenAI’s video generation model SORA

OpenAI introduced Sora, a text-to-video AI model that generates realistic videos. Sora can create videos up to one minute long while keeping good visuals and following the user’s instructions. The model is now available for some testers and chosen creators to get early feedback before it might be released to more people. Sora combines features of GPT and DALL-E for a better understanding of physical dynamics and maintains details in the generated scenes, resulting in more lifelike outcomes.

The results are impressive, but the model also has some weaknesses. OpenAI showcases both the strengths and weaknesses on its website. It’s definitely worth a look.

Our thoughts

The results are really impressive! However, the weaknesses should not be ignored. In addition, models like Sora could massively change the film industry. Films could be generated entirely with AI. Actors would suddenly be superfluous. It’s sad, but the economy usually follows the lower costs.

✍🏽 What’s your opinion about Sora?

🤖 Rumors about AI innovations from Apple

Apple recently purchased the rights to a new domain (iWork.ai) after making an image editing model open-source and publishing some AI-focused research papers. This development has led people to believe that Apple has ambitious AI plans for its productivity applications. iWork includes the apps Keynote, Pages, and Numbers.

In addition, the Neural Engine of the new iPhone 16 is rumored to have significantly more power. Apple plans significantly more cores for the Neural Engine. We can expect that Apple will integrate generative AI capabilities in Xcode, similar to Microsoft Copilot.

Our thoughts

Apple has been lagging behind in terms of AI. However, we believe that this year will be Apple’s breakthrough year for AI. We anticipate seeing AI innovations in Xcode, Siri, iOS, and macOS. One thing is certain: Apple’s chips have been perfectly optimized for AI applications for years.

💬 NVIDIA: Chat with RTX

NVIDIA released Chat with RTX, a free demo that brings AI chatbots to Windows PCs with NVIDIA RTX. This tool uses local files as a dataset for an open-source large language model, providing quick, contextually relevant answers to user queries.

It supports various file formats and can even integrate information from YouTube videos. The application runs locally, keeping the user’s data on their device and providing fast results. It requires a GeForce RTX 30 Series GPU or higher, at least 8GB of VRAM, and the latest NVIDIA GPU drivers.

Watch the short demo video to get a sneak peek. 👇🏽

Our thoughts

NVIDIA is the top company in the AI hardware business. This demo impressively demonstrates how you can chat with your own data using open-source LLMs. Very practical for experimenting with open-source LLMs.
