### 🤖 Ex-Google Researchers founded Sakana AI
David Ha and Llion Jones, two former top AI researchers at Google, have founded Sakana AI. Sakana AI focuses on developing new architectures for foundation models. The startup takes a "swarm" approach. They are combining multiple smaller AI models. They are exploring the coordination of specialized smaller models, much like swarms in nature. The goal is to match the performance of large models.
This approach could reduce data requirements and costs compared to single large models. The distributed approach could spawn new directions in the AI arms race.

### 📃 New York Times considers legal action against OpenAI
The New York Times is considering a lawsuit against OpenAI for using texts from the newspaper to train AI models. The New York Times and OpenAI have been negotiating financial compensation for several weeks. A court hearing could clarify for the first time whether AI models can legally be trained with newspaper articles. OpenAI could face stiff penalties from a court hearing.

### 👀 Upgrades for Google's Search Generative Experience (SGE)
Google has unveiled some upgrades for SGE. The feature, called SGE while browsing, can quickly summarize the most important points of long content from the web. The feature helps users understand topics faster. However, it does not provide key points for paid articles, but only for web pages accessible for free.
