xAI launches Grok 4
Elon Musk’s xAI has released the fourth version of Grok. According to xAI, it’s “the most intelligent model in the world”. In addition, Elon Musk said Grok 4 is better than any PhD student in any field.
The details
- For Grok 4 training, the xAI team used their 200k-GPU cluster, called Colossus. With the help of reinforcement learning, the team could refine Grok’s reasoning abilities in pre-training.
- In addition, Grok 4 is a single-agent AI model. It processes user input and generates responses using one model instance, unlike Grok 4 Heavy, which uses multiple agents working together for better accuracy on complex tasks.
- Grok 4 and Grok 4 Heavy outperform state-of-the-art models on several benchmarks, such as Humanity’s Last Exam. Humanity’s Last Exam (HLE) is a challenging intelligence test with more than 2,500 problems. In addition, xAI also introduced a new, super-realistic voice with emotions.
- Grok 4 is available to SuperGrok and Premium+ subscribers, as well as through the xAI API. Additionally, there is a SuperGrok Heavy tier ($300 per month) that provides access to Grok 4 Heavy, the most powerful version of Grok 4.
