🤖 GPT Store is live
OpenAI has launched the GPT Store, allowing users to access a variety of custom versions of ChatGPT. The store offers GPTs for various categories including writing, programming, and education. It features over 3 million GPTs created by the community. OpenAI plans to introduce a revenue program for GPT builders based on user engagement. A revenue program for builders in the U.S. is scheduled to launch in Q1.
In addition, a new ChatGPT Team plan has been announced, offering private access to the GPT Store and enhanced admin controls for businesses.
Our thoughts
The launch of the store brings attention back to community-created GPTs, as discoverability has been challenging in recent months. New personalization features will also contribute to transforming ChatGPT into a more customizable, user-specific assistant, further enhancing its capabilities. It’s a big moment for all GPT builders, especially as there are future revenue incentives.

Apple releases MLX for on-device Machine Learning
MLX is an efficient machine learning framework for machine learning on Apple silicon. It is an open-source framework designed to simplify AI development on Apple hardware. It makes it possible to run advanced, intensive models on local devices.
There is a repo with many examples. It provides examples in the MLX framework. You can use it to run many popular models like:
- Llama2, Mistral, Mixtral and Phi-2
- Stable Diffusion
- Whisper
- Other models from Hugging Face
In addition, you can use it to fine-tune your own models with LoRA or QLoRA.
It is rumored that Apple is working on a new version of Siri with AI.

With its incredibly user-friendly design tailored for Apple silicon, MLX is a massive leap toward machine learning on devices within the Apple ecosystem! Even though some might believe Apple is lagging in the AI race. Apple has the potential to transform the landscape in 2024!

💬 Rabbit R1: The future of human-machine interface?
Rabbit, a startup from Santa Monica, introduced its AI assistant, Rabbit R1, at CES 2024. The device, equipped with a 2.88-inch touchscreen and a MediaTek processor, can perform multiple tasks like playing music and ordering groceries. Rabbit aims to create an intuitive, app-free experience with its AI, eliminating the frustration caused by complicated smartphone apps.
The Rabbit R1 uses a Large Action Model (called LAM). This model can understand user intentions and mimic actions quickly. The Rabbit R1 costs $199 and is available for pre-order on Rabbit’s website. The company is planning to start shipping the smart devices by late March. It has already sold out two batches of 10,000 Rabbit R1 devices and expects to deliver its third batch between May and June 2024.
Our thoughts
According to Rabbit CEO Jesse Lyu, the vision of the R1 is a combination of voice assistant, screen and camera. Rabbit R1 competes with devices like Humane’s new AI Pin and not the iPhone, says founder Lyu. The device is an example of a new generation of AI-first devices that are just coming onto the market. We will have to wait and see whether these devices will become established.

Magic AI tool of the week
