Top AI news of the week
🎶 Meta releases MusicGen
Meta’s music generator can convert a text description into audio in a few seconds. In addition, MusicGen can optionally be controlled with a reference audio file. In this case, the AI model uses the description and melody of the file. The tool is powerful and delivers good results. The results are comparable to Google’s MusicLM. However, it cannot replace human musicians. There is a demo on the Hugging Face website.

🔥 EU AI Act
We have been following the topic of the EU AI Act in our newsletter for a few weeks. On Wednesday, 14 June, MEPs set out their position for negotiations with EU countries. The EU wants to become the first economic area in the world to regulate the use of AI by law. There should also be complete bans. Real-time AI facial recognition in public spaces is to be completely banned. AI systems must disclose that the content is AI-generated. The law will come into force in 2026 at the earliest.

Magic AI tool of the week
There are increasingly powerful AI models. Tools like ChatGPT can write long texts in seconds. We can hardly tell if a text is human or generated by an AI.
GPTZero can recognise AI-generated texts. In the future, such tools will be essential to protect creative writers. There is a Chrome Extension to recognize AI-generated texts.
